Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
