Acceptance of Resignation
US Attorney General, the Attorney General, announced her stepping down on Monday. Bondi stated that the court's "flawed" ruling made it "untenable" for Habba to effectively run her office.
"Do not interpret adherence to the ruling as defeat," Habba stated. "My fight will now stretch across the nation."

The departure comes a week after a federal appellate panel determined that she had been acting without proper authority as the top prosecutor. This judgment is expected to impact numerous legal proceedings in New Jersey.
The appellate judges said that a interim role that skirted Senate approval ran afoul of the statute on vacant positions.

Bondi said that the former prosecutor will continue working within the DOJ as a high-level advisor. She will seek further review of the ruling, aiming for a different outcome.
Writing online, Bondi argued that judges "should not be able to second-guess the President's choice of lawyers entrusted with executing the executive branch's core responsibility of prosecuting crime."

Bondi praised the prosecutor's work and pointed out that under her leadership, the city of Newark saw a one-fifth decrease in crime. She also stated that the southern city of Camden experienced its initial homicide-free summer since 1974 without a homicide.
Background and Previous Role
Habba, was initially recruited to the former president's legal defense in recent years. Subsequently, she represented her client in his business records case in New York last year, which resulted in his conviction on 34 counts of financial record manipulation.
