The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
