The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project aims to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The single blends a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“There is no a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
