The United Kingdom is set to progress with using the full worth of immobilized Russia's assets to aid Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this joint measure would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be implemented in close cooperation with the America.

United Kingdom sanctions have immobilized over £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, until now, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had solely been taken from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their desire to drive progress toward using the complete amount of the seized Russia's state assets to end the war.

He stated that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration follows European Union representatives gathered in Copenhagen last week to discuss employing frozen Russia's assets for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to seize or employ immobilized Russian funds, based on reports.

The value of frozen Russia's holdings in the Europe is calculated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow launched widespread missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on that day, resulting in blackouts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and at least 20 people were injured in the strike, authorities in Ukraine reported.

In a message on X subsequent to the incident, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not empty words but firm measures - from the America, EU, and the G7 - in supplying defense mechanisms and enforcing sanctions," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky noted, in a different message.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told the press he would encourage Sir Keir to join the PURL programme, under which partner nations buy weapons from the United States to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the United Kingdom's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he noted it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as enforce more sanctions on Russia.
